OK then... longtime poster, first time admin. As my first post, unfortunately it's a show off piece by my own firm, VIA Studio. Up for your critical eyebones is a site that we finished a couple months ago, robertrich.com.

Robert Rich is a musician primarily focused in the realms of ambient electronic. He's released over 30 albums in the course of the last 20 years, and is extremely well regarded in his genre. He has recorded for film and television, and as an added bonus makes his own wine, which we've had the honor of tasting on multiple occasions. Robert also lives very close to the Google campus in Mountain View, CA, so we've got a spy for us on what's going on out west.

This site was quite a fun project for us, because not only did it allow us to stretch out creatively for a client, it's also a musician that we adore here at the office. This project encompassed creative design, an audio player, custom discography database, a little search engine optimization, and a whole lotta love.

By the way, my name's Jason. Pleased to meet you. I'm a big fan of the city and honored to be a part of a community that's trying to make design a part of the dialogue here.
Well, don't fret. We've come up with a solution to keep things moving on Create Louisville. If there is not enough work coming out of our great city to post, we'll go outside of the city and look for inspiration. That is the focus of the new series of posts we plan on adding. Sites, campaigns, photography, and more that inspires the creative in us.

The first piece of this ongoing series is a site that was just released by the UFC to promote an upcoming event in Vegas.

http://84.ufc.com/

It was created by Red Interactive (which also has a pretty amazing site). I saw this in my inbox today, and am hoping I can make it out there tonight. Wish I could have given you more of a heads up, but hey, at least I'm giving you enough time to make some arrangements. It is a screening for Mel Chin's new animated film 9/11 - 9/11 and it is at The New Center for Contemporary Art on 742 East Market Street at 7PM. Here is their number if you have any other questions - 502.552.2994.

September 11, 2001-New York City. September 11, 1973-Santiago. The terrorist attacks on the twin towers of the World trade Center in New York forever scarred trust of the American people, while the Chilean military coup of President Salvador Allende, that occurred on the same day twenty-eight years prior, ushered in seventeen years of autocratic rule that left more than three thousand dead and countless victims of torture. In this dark and intensely compelling, animated new film, 9-11/9-11, Mel Chin creates a tale of two cities, a tragedy of two times, weaving a story of love and hope wrecked by overt and covert manipulation of power. 9-11/9-11, presented as part of a global dialogue about the human impact of these collective traumas, presented originally in New York City by Creative Time and shown simultaneously in Santiago, Chile (Centro Cultural Palacio La Moneda, Santiago), Houston (The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston) and Chicago(Chicago Art institute) on September 11, 2007.

On Monday, May 5 at 7PM, Mel Chin, an internationally acclaimed contemporary artist, is making a surprise visit to New Center for Contemporary Art. Through the support of his friends James and Leslie Millar, Mel Chin has offered to give a special screening of 9/11 - 9/11. The screening will include a gallery talk in which Mel Chin will talk about some of his other projects.

About Mel Chin

Mel Chin, born in Houston, Texas in 1951, is known for the broad range of his art that requires multi-disciplinary, collaborative teamwork and his conceptual public art practice. He was one of the 16 artists included in the PBS series Art of the 21st Century, 2001. Chin exhibits extensively in the United States and Europe, including solo exhibitions at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C. the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the Menil Collection in Houston, Texas. Here is another Gold ADDY winner from the Louie Awards. This website was built by Doe Anderson for Beam Global Spirits and Wine. The site has drink mixes, a tasting guide, a little history, and a look into how bourbon is made. If you want to figure out how the Mint Julip is made, you'll just have to go to the site. Better do it before the weekend. Enjoy the Derby.

www.AmericanNativeSpirit.com

Entrant:

Doe Anderson

Title:

Beam America's Native Spirit Website

Credits:

Kevin Price, Designer
Jay Davis, Copywriter
Zezza Network, Programming
John Dunivant, Illustrator
David Bonner, Chief Creative Officer
