Noah Church | Mural

Noah Church, the man responsible for the signage and murals at Cafe 360 and Ray's Monkey House has another mural in the Highlands. This one is in the alley behind Ear-X-Tacy and Mark's Feedstore. The C-J has an article with more information about Noah and this piece. Noah is also a part of the Friends and Fiends art show this Saturday at Mellwood.

I guess anything is art if you call it art, but commercial art should at least have some standards. Assuming it does, and assuming one of them is competence, this seems more like art than commercial art.

Murals are often eyesores -- garish fields of incompetently applied paint in public areas — and, all too frequently, worse than graffiti, because nobody has the good taste to remove them.

I appreciate Dude went to art school, but that's hardly an excuse for defacing walls. These murals are amateurish, cartoon-like, inane, and poorly conceived. I only hope someone paints one outside Noah's bedroom window.
