July's Five0Two | Matt Dobson
Posted by Jadmin @ 9:53 AM July 17, 2008
This month's Five0Two artwork is by none other than createlouisville.com's Matt Dobson.
Matt is
currently the Graphics Coordinator for Actors Theatre. He was the
co-owner of the Butcher Block art gallery and is currently a
co-producer of The Late Seating at Actors Theatre, a series of late
night events showcasing local performance, art, and music. Outside of
that Matt continues to paint, make prints, and design posters or
anything else he can get his hands on.
Red7e worked with Matt on this one, so it was hard to comment without appearing self-involved, but we've become recent fans of Matt's work, so we were excited when he agreed to help Five0Two out.
The mix of whimsy and eccentricity in Matt's work captures the Louisville brand spirit. There's a really cool authenticity combined with humour, imagination, and creative curiosity.
His Web site's represented somewhere else on CreateLouisville, and I'd encourage people to check it out.
I don't know what inspired Matt to express Louisville as a bird box, but it's an awesome illustration and the look on the bird's face captures Brett's expression perfectly.

I'm shocked there are no comments on this one!
Great colors, visually interesting & it's on wood! What's not to love? I'm a little curious about how big it is & what medium was used. It almost looks like sharpies.
