Beam - Native Spirit Website | Gold Addy | Doe

Doeweb Posted by Dadmin @ 7:07 PM April 30, 2008

Here is another Gold ADDY winner from the Louie Awards. This website was built by Doe Anderson for Beam Global Spirits and Wine. The site has drink mixes, a tasting guide, a little history, and a look into how bourbon is made. If you want to figure out how the Mint Julip is made, you'll just have to go to the site. Better do it before the weekend. Enjoy the Derby.

Thanks to Jason Clark over at Via Studio for submitting the Havana Beverages website.

Havana Beverages is a local beverage company with national distribution. I've seen it popping up a lot as of recent. Good stuff.

WTF Moment | Sitar

Sitar Posted by T_Admin @ 9:31 AM April 25, 2008

I think being a designer is a blessing and a curse.  While I'm thankful that I get to create for a living, I also can't walk into a restaurant without noting what font was used on the menu.  Or look through a magazine without spending more time looking at the ads than reading the articles.

I also have these moments that I call "WTF Moments."  This is when I am in the regular hub-bub of life and I come across something that just plain slaps me in the face as a designer.  And all I can think is, "WTF."

As I was driving down Bardstown Rd. in the Highlands, I couldn't help but notice that a new Indian place, Sitar, had opened.  I also couldn't help but notice their sign.....WTF!?

As you folks go through your day, I know you have these moments as well.  When you do, grab a cell phone or a camera and snap a photo.  Then send us your WTF moments and we'll post them here.

Spring Meet | Now Open Billboard

Now Open Posted by T_Admin @ 1:06 PM April 21, 2008

Hey, we're back!  Thanks for your patience as we fixed some things on the website and took care of some client work.

Last year, about this time this billboard series went up to announce the opening of the spring racing at Churchill Downs.  It was cleverly spread out over time as the event got closer, the billboard changed.  Check out the series here.

Thanks to Red7e for submitting.

21C Museum | Tangled Up In You

Tangled Up Posted by Dadmin @ 7:25 AM April 11, 2008

Tangled Up In You is the latest exhibit at the 21C Museum. For those of you who frequent Proof, you know exactly where this is. The 21C Museum houses some fantastic contemporary art, with this particular exhibition of various artists on display until June of this year.

The multi-stranded threads of family and romance that wind their way through each of our lives are explored, celebrated, and interrogated in the 21c Museum's current exhibition.
View the 21C Museum's page on the exhibit here.

I know what you may be asking... "Why is this on here?" Well, we just had our awards show here in Louisville so I thought it was somewhat relevant. Plus, San Diego was my stomping ground before I made the transition to Louisville (man, I miss the beach!). I spotted this on Motionographer and thought it was a really cool promo piece for their show.

Digitaria: Concept, Design, Direction
Vacuum: Video Production, Animation

Good stuff. It's a nice combo of 3D, illustration, and motion.

Maker's Mark Contest for Local Artists

MakersContest Posted by Dadmin @ 7:48 AM April 2, 2008

Just found this on ConsumingLouisville.com.

The Mark of Great Art - Call for Local Artists

For over 50 years, we've been handcrafting Maker's Mark here at our little distillery in Loretto, KY. From the hand selecting of our grains, to the tasting of each barrel and the hand dipping of each bottle in our signature red wax, we leave nothing to chance when it comes to our bourbon. That's why we look at each bottle of Maker's as a work of art.

And now we want to see your artistic take on the process.

We'd like to try something new, something different. Something that reflects the essence of not only our bourbon, but the distillery, the people, and the brand in an artistic way.

We want to give local artists full-access to our historic distillery, in the hope that it will become an inspiration they can express through their art form.
Sounds fun. You can download the application packet at the site.
