The 930 Art Center appears to be quite the place. A gallery, studio spaces, a listening room and more. Although we have yet to check it out, it is definitely on our to do list. Galleries inspire creative after all, right?
They also have an art and film festival coming up in May. There was not much written on the site about the event, but they are apparently taking entries right now.

My name is Michael Winters and I'm the gallery director for the 930. Thanks for making a post about us. We would like to invite all of you to participate with us.
To mozelle - We understand that many people are 'weirded out' by our affiliation with Sojourn Community Church, but I don't think there is any need to be. Everyone is welcome here. At the same time we don't mind being honest about our intentions as a Christian-run organization. I'm happy to fill people in on what we're doing, or if you want to get on our monthly event email list contact me through our website - www.the930.org. thanks
Michael, I'm glad you responded. Maybe you can help with my confusion.
The thing I have been 'weirded out' by is the distinction in the branding and marketing of the 930 vs. Sojourn. Are they separate entities? The line between the two seems to be very vague and permeable.

The 930 does a lot of cool stuff but I can't help but be a little....weirded out by them being a Southern Baptist Church affiliated space. That's probably as wrong as Christians being weirded out by non-Christians or gays or whatever but I find that every show or work of theirs that I come across I think about the layer the SBC affiliation does or doesn't impart. Like do they refuse artists who are non-Christian? I know that doesn't speak at all to the quality of the work that is being shown and any discussion or critique of it but I still think about it.
