We will be posting a lot of the winners of the recent Louie Awards here over the course of the next month. It's refreshing to see so much great creative this year. We believe that great creative should spark great discussion. Through discussion, comes learning; and learning is the goal of this site. So submit, discuss, and enjoy!
Our first post is a site that was created by LeapFrog Interactive for Vanity Fair. There is quite a mix of technology used in this site to achieve the results you see. Go ahead, find your sexy style.

Update: 4/11/07
Thanks to telabs for letting us know where this work came from. Unfortunately, Louisville can't claim this one.
Iker Spozio did this piece, which is actually an engraving. Check out the collection of work here: www.ikerspozio.com
At the Post | Visual FX in Louisville
Posted by T_Admin @ 10:54 AM March 25, 2008
Its not often that you see a company with locations in LA and Louisville. But At the Post has done just that. Not exactly sure what the Louisville work is...or will be. But having the Visual FX from 300, U2 Music Videos, and Aerosmith on your Demo Reel, certainly makes me perk up. Check out the reel here.
If anyone has any insight into this company and their local work, please let us know.

Hello all,
Bear with us, I've been in Atlanta, and now the other admins are out of town too. This site is just getting kick started, so we are getting pieces up when we can, and are always looking for help from our members.
So we don't have details on who created this piece from the Five0Two group, but as soon as we get it, we will post it. We always love to give credit where it is due. Yet another solid installment to the Five0Two series. Check it out, and let us know what you think.
View a larger preview of the piece here.
Keep up the great work guys.

Ashley Cecil is a fantastic painter. Her blog bridges the gap between technology and the fine arts. This is an excerpt from her site:
Welcome to the marriage of painting and social activism. I've been creating art ever since discovering that my mom's favorite lipstick made a great oil pastel. Through formal art education and years of professional experience, the adult version of this vocation has evolved into my own job title, "painting activist." I'm addressing social issues utilizing painting as my medium of communication. Much like a photojournalist, I travel to locations/events of cultural interest and capture them, only with my brush. My talent is as an artist, my passion is advocating for social change; this is how the two work together.Hope you enjoy.

Local Photography
Posted by T_Admin @ 12:11 PM March 16, 2008
I had the pleasure of working with Michelle Jones to build out this website. Recently, I went to her website and noticed she had updated her photography portfolio with some fantastic pictures from around Louisville. Check them out here.
This got me thinking. Are there other photoblogs or photographers here in town that have great images of our city and / or its culture? Here are just a few:
- Daniel Light (Link goes to 2007 Portfolio)
- Sarah Lyon (Check out Louisville Images)
- Tom Gnadinger (Places and Things are amazing images!)
If you know any, or have images of your own, please submit, so we can feature here!

Thanks to Matt Dobson for submitting his own work. Matt did the illustration along with his wife Lindsey who did the lettering.
Sorry for the confusion, we had another post up for the WRONG piece... the link we had been given previously took us to the wrong creative piece. All is good now. You can view the full piece here.

The 930 Art Center appears to be quite the place. A gallery, studio spaces, a listening room and more. Although we have yet to check it out, it is definitely on our to do list. Galleries inspire creative after all, right?
They also have an art and film festival coming up in May. There was not much written on the site about the event, but they are apparently taking entries right now.

I Spy Speed
Posted by Admin @ 9:48 AM March 13, 2008
As soon as post one went up, the flood gates opened. We've had students, programmers, artists, and more send us some really great creative. That is really awesome, so bear with us as we get some of this stuff posted.
Thanks to Domestic Sifu for submitting this!
The Speed Museum sponsored a billboard contest where designs could be submitted, registered users vote, and the winning billboard is displayed outside the Speed Museum for the month of March.
The contest required participants to find five of ten billboards designed by Flavia Da Rin and placed around Louisville.
Each billboard displayed a keyword needed to unlock the I Spy Speed site to allow users to upload their own designs.
Displayed is the winning billboard.
You can see the winners at I Spy Speed, just choose the Top Three Winners.

Possibility City Website
Posted by T_Admin @ 10:43 AM March 12, 2008
The folks over at Red7e launched this Louisville branding website in conjunction with the Louisville Extreme Makeover Home Edition episode that aired a few weeks ago.
Its an interesting look at our city, but is the site effective? In addition, this brings to light the whole Possibility City campaign. Thoughts? Comments? Anything else worth posting on this subject?

Maker's Mark Billboard

Here is a shot we found on The Ville Voice. Another great local blog we highly recommend.
We have it cropped here, so be sure to check out the whole thing. View full size here.
Here is what The Ville Voice had to say:
"You've got to hand it to those clever folks at Doe Anderson, we assume, for this clever Maker's Mark billboard..." Read the postIt might be a few years old, but it still is making an impact apparently.

The Wil Show
Posted by Admin @ 9:59 PM March 10, 2008
With video becoming ever so popular on the web, it is not surprising that we are seeing many people become famous for their YouTube videos. I can't help but think of the classic "Chocolate Rain", by Tay Zonday.
Wow, that was definitely weird, but yet compelling for some unknown reason. So intriguing to the masses that even Dr. Pepper took a spin on it.
So what goes into making a video popular? Just doing it? Is that enough? Maybe. Hell, it's worth a shot. I guess you really don't know until you try.
Meet Wil, a guy who has been popping up a lot here in Louisville lately. A comedian? An entrepreneur? An actor? A musician? I'm not entirely sure. However it seems pretty cool that people are making the effort to get noticed on their own time and dime as opposed to the 'pipe dream' of making it big in Hollywood.
